For Second Consecutive Year, Combined Insurance Named “5 Star Employer” Honored for Military Veteran Hiring and Retainment Efforts
03/14/2022
CHICAGO – March 14, 2022 – Combined Insurance Company of America, a Chubb company and a leading provider of supplemental accident, health, disability, and life insurance products for individuals and employers, today announced that for the second year in a row, it has been named a “5 Star” VETS Indexes Employer Award winner. The designation is the award program’s highest attainable honor, and recognizes Combined’s dedication to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting U.S. military veterans and to the greater military community.
“Combined Insurance has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to veterans and the military community, through its efforts to recruit, support, and promote those who served our country bravely,” said George Altman, managing director of VETS Indexes. “As a VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer, Combined Insurance has proven to be a welcoming home for veterans and military spouses who want to start the next phases in their lives.”
This is the second year of the VETS Indexes award program, which utilizes an in-depth survey to analyze employers’ policies, practices, and outcomes across five key categories: Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring; veteran employee development and retention; veteran-inclusive company policies and culture; support for members of the National Guard and Reserves; and military spouse and family support.
Combined Insurance launched its veteran recruiting program more than a decade ago - in 2010 - hiring more than 5,500 veterans, military spouses, and their family members since then. Combined also is a strong supporter of military and veteran-focused nonprofit organizations, including the USO of Illinois, Luke’s Wings, and Fisher House Foundation.
“Combined’s commitment to veterans and the military community is foundational to who we are and what we stand for,” said Rich Williams, President of Combined Insurance. “Hiring men and women who have served their country not only is the right thing to do, it’s smart business. We value the diligence, leadership, and fortitude veterans bring to our organization.”
More than 120 organizations submitted surveys to be considered for a VETS Indexes award, including companies of all sizes, government agencies and departments, nonprofit groups, and colleges.
